  • What is TableGrace and why was it created?
Many families, despite their best intentions, struggle with consistent and meaningful spiritual formation. TableGrace helps families connect Bible verses to everyday themes of life in a way that feels intentional yet approachable. The Theme/Thread/Verse/Prayer structure of our booklets helps build familiarity with scripture and teaches prayer rooted in God’s Word. TableGrace is a resource designed for Christian families to engage in spiritual formation at meals. Each booklet draws on major biblical themes and sub-themes (“threads”), with scripture and related prayers for children to read aloud, fostering a shared family experience in saying “grace.” It's experiential, with the intent to guide families to participate in spiritual life together.
  • How do we use TableGrace?
While there's no wrong way to use TableGrace booklets, the process was designed to integrate children into being a part of saying "grace" at the beginning of a family meal. Typically, title pages would be introduced and read by an adult. The daily pages are intended for children to read. A parent may choose to close the prayer with additional prayers as they see fit. While TableGrace booklets do not include commentary or follow-up questions, we encourage families to be open to the Spirit’s leading as discussion develops naturally from the content. We hope each family will find their own rhythm with what works best for them. For some families, mealtime prayer will be new, and for other families, not all the topics and references throughout the scripture and prayer will be familiar. All of this is okay! Our hope is that the simple structure of the pages is accessible and inviting, while the actual content pushes us to experience new depths in our faith as we encounter Jesus through theologically robust framing.
  • What themes and topics are covered in the booklets?
Each TableGrace booklet centers on a major Biblical theme, such as Hope, Love, Forgiveness, or Faithfulness. Within each theme, there are three sub-themes, or Threads, that dive deeper into related aspects. These themes are designed to resonate with real-life experiences and provide spiritual insights that are accessible to the whole family.
  • Why do verses repeat within the same booklet, but in different weeks?
The repetition is intentional to build familiarity and reinforce the scripture’s application to Theme and Threads of life. This is a key differentiating part of TableGrace from other types of devotionals. Without imposing the "to do" of memorization, we still seek to help families become increasingly familiar with scripture. While the scripture repeats, prayers do not.
  • Why only five scriptures per week, not seven?
We recognize families may not gather for dinner every night, so we settled on five scriptures per week to accommodate flexibility within different family situations while limiting the pressure of having to continually catch up.
  • What if we miss a day or can’t use it every week?
TableGrace is designed to be flexible and forgiving. If you miss a week, you can pick up right where you left off, or simply continue with the current reading. There’s no pressure to “catch up,” and each booklet is intended to meet your family where you are.
  • How are the themes and threads chosen?
Each TableGrace booklet centers around a carefully curated biblical theme with supporting threads, which we chose for their relevance to family life and spiritual formation. The structure and selection of themes are intended to help families explore the Bible in a way that feels both accessible and meaningful.
  • Is TableGrace suitable for younger children?
TableGrace booklets are designed with older youths and teens in mind, but the content can be adapted with guidance from parents. For younger children, parents may choose to simplify the language or read sections aloud to help them engage.
  • What makes TableGrace different from other devotionals?
TableGrace is uniquely designed to fit into family mealtimes, making space for children to be part of saying grace before a meal. The structure is intentional and instructional as a guide towards spiritual growth through the practice of a shared experience in scripture and prayer.
  • Why not just read the Bible as a family?
Please do! TableGrace is not intended to replace reading the Bible in any way! We are simply here to help families engage in scripture and prayer together during mealtimes, for those who want it.
  • Are digital versions of the booklets available?
Booklets are intentionally physical, designed for hands-on use at the dinner table. We believe that the tangible experience of holding and reading the booklet enhances the experience.
  • Is TableGrace associated with a specific denomination?
TableGrace is non-denominational and is designed to serve families across Christian traditions. Our focus is on biblical principles and shared family experience, not specific denominational doctrines. While some traditions may find more familiarity in the themes and prayers than others, TableGrace is intended for any family seeking to integrate scripture and prayer into their daily lives.
  • What version/interpretation of the Bible is being quoted?
We use the New International Version (NIV) of the Bible for scripture quotes.
  • Can I select different Bible versions for the scriptures included in the booklets?
No. Due to copyright restrictions, TableGrace uses the New International Version (NIV). Its wide acceptance within churches along with its generous usage permissions make it ideal for TableGrace.
